Emorsgate Amenity Grass Mixtures

Emorsgate amenity turf grass mixtures EG21 and EG22 perform well under a wide range of conditions.  These mixtures are recommended for conventional landscaping use.  Throughout, we have tried to select species and varieties which are adapted to our climate, are compatible for sowing alongside our other seed mixtures and will not need inputs of artificial fertilizers or chemicals.

 

Grazing mixtures EG25, EG26 and EG27 are based on descriptions taken from Victorian seed merchants' catalogues.  Traditional grazing mixtures contain a much wider range of grasses and herbs that modern ley mixtures, making them ideally suited to low input extensive grazing systems and for "amenity grazing" such as in country parks and pony paddocks.  These mixtures work by using a blend of plants with complimentary characteristics.  Ryegrass (upon which modern mixes are based) requires a regular supply of nitrogen and good rainfall and only responds well whilst growing conditions are optimal.  Other grasses are hardier and less demanding.  Cocksfoot can grow well in drier conditions; meadow fescue and timothy are useful in cold, wet soils.  The legumes in the mixture will fix nitrogen, feeding the grass.  Herbs and legumes also make the grazing more palatable, with a higher protein and mineral content than a pure grass ley.

 

EG25 is the simplest grazing mixture and EG27 is the most complex - please choose a mixture to suit your budget and diversity requirements.

 

Mixtures may be ordered in any quantity from 100g upwards.  Quantities up to one kilo are priced at the 100g rate, up to 10 kilos at the kilo rate, up to 100 kilos at the 10 kilo rate, and over 100 kilos at the 100 kilo rate.
